Goodbye Parenthood, Goodbye Blog

The last episodddeeeeeeeeeee!

Omigosh. This one was actually really really really really really really great. I love how they wrapped things up but also snuck in a bunch of surprises. I don't even know where to begin.

Crosby's gonna do the Luncheonette on his own, that's awesome! I mean I sort of had that thought a few episodes back, but mostly I thought he should maybe just find another partner that was good at business. But I loved how he said to Amber, "I'm gonna be the new Adam, and I want you to be the new Crosby." Yes! I love that.

Oh man, and Max with the girl! So cute! And I love that he was the photographer at the wedding.

Oh, and of course Joel and Julia, I knew it! I mean I didn't know it. I did think at first Victor's mom wanted to see him. Then I thought maybe she died or something, but then a split second before it happened I was like, Wait they're gonna ask them to adopt someone else or something. (This is because I know a girl whose kids from different dads got adopted by the same family so there's two actual siblings and one half-sibling, and I think it's cool how the same family kept adopting them.) And that story line is just so awesome to me because I think that that is what marriage should be about - something greater than just, "You make me happy. ""You make ME happy." You know? Like it's cool that they're doing something together that's about more than just themselves. And sometimes we have to make these decisions to help people sort of quickly, you know? And they did. Good job Joel and Julia. God will help you work on your marriage at the same time. That's what I believe (if this show was not a show and was real life).

And Kristina and Adam! Oh man that was a really fast storyline that Parenthood would probably normally have dragged out among a bunch of episodes, but they threw the whole thing all into one, and I bought it. It was so cute!

And Haddie came back, of course I like that, and I love her hair. And I will say I'm glad they didn't emphasize her gayness in the last episode. Just because that whole thing was never a part of her character. It became a part for like two seconds, and I just really didn't think it was necessary to be emphasized in the series finale when we all want to remember the characters in a certain way. I don't know. I mean, I get that she's this different person now and has this new life, but she's still Haddie, and I liked that they showed her as such. And she was a really good sister to Max before she left, and they had had so many problems when they were younger, so I'm glad they made that the focus. That was always much more a part of her story line. Also did I mention I like her hair? I really like her hair.

Oh also I should mention I watched this episode with two of my roommates who never watch Parenthood. One of them had seen two episodes before. They wanted to watch with me, but I usually watch it on my computer with my headphones all by myself in the dark in my room so I can get reallllllly into it and like cry and stuff and then blog right after. But it was sort of cool they wanted to watch with me so I said they are not allowed to talk or text or ask any questions even if they don't know what's going on. (Also I told them they can't have subtitles play. - Haley's obsessed with subtitles so we have to watch everything with subtitles. Well, not when it's my show Hales, not when it's my show. She was like, "Okayyy.") But anyways I think they liked it, so that was cool. And I explained a little during the commercials, but like Haley said, Parenthood's really not a show that's super hard to understand what's going on.

You know how I actually got into Parenthood in the beginning? It was because my old roommate Beth used to watch it in the living room all the time and even though I wasn't into it and didn't know anything that was going on, I would often find myself stopping to check out a scene and then when it was over being like, "Wow that was a great scene." I just loved the acting and the writing and the relationships. So that happened like five times until I was like, "Okay I like this show. I think I need to watch it from the beginning." So I asked for Season One for Christmas that year and honestly I didn't love the pilot, but then I loved loved loved every episode after. And then I started a blog at one point (as you know), and the rest is history. (Oh man it really IS history now. Aww...)

Jason Katims what will you do next? I still need to get caught up on About a Boy, but for real, do you have another amazing hour-long in the works, or are you taking a break for a while? I need another show to have a goal to be on one day. (At least with the next one, I'll have a lot more seasons of opportunity.)

Oh but was there anything else good about this episode? Oh, I just want to talk about Crosby again. I just love love love how Adam and his wife and his dad and Amber all really supported and encouraged him. That's what we need in our life in order to do what we're really called to do. It might not always come from our family (often not actually, unless you truly have a Parenthood-style fam), but we should surround ourselves with encouraging friends that push us to be the people we are really called to be.

Oh, and Drew as the best man! That was so awesome. And his speech, the part about his mom, oh man. That was touching. He really is such a good actor.

And Amber staying with her grandparents. That was such perfect timing because not only did it help Amber, but now Camille has someone to live with now that Zeek is gone (old Zeek). Old Zeek! Wow, I'm a little shocked they included his death in this one, but I guess they wanted to really show the futures of everyone's lives.

I was a little confused about when they showed Amber later, was that a new boyfriend with her? But then what's his face (the dad) came back to see the baby? I got a little lost in the montages.

Well anyways. Thank you Parenthood People for giving us such a good show, for presenting us with so many truths and so much light and life and love. It has been an inspiration to many of us, and I hope you all continue to get great opportunities to use your talents.

Love,
Your biggest actress fan,
